# Economy / Tokenomics

Sunflower Land operates at the intersection of **gaming and open markets**. Because **Web3 tokens and collectibles are freely tradable**, our design must ensure **long-term sustainability** and **protection against inflationary pressure.**

Over four years of operation, we have refined a token model that is **transparent, independent, and community-aligned.**

### 🔑 Core Principles

**1. No Insider Allocations**

* 0% FLOWER allocated to team, VCs, or insiders.
* 100% of FLOWER supply is community-driven and priced by open markets.

**2. Deflationary Design**\
FLOWER is continuously used across core in-game sinks:

* Marketplace fees (5-20% of all in-game trades)
* FLOWER Auctions&#x20;
* Gem Purchases - (50%)
* Shops & upgrades&#x20;

**3. Rewards Based on Burns**\
Unlike inflationary “play-to-earn” models, FLOWER rewards are only created when FLOWER is spent.

* When FLOWER is spent, it returns to the rewards pool. On average, only  `75%` of that FLOWER spent is cycled back into **player hands** reducing the circulating supply.

**4. Seasonal Resource Burns (Chapters)**

* Each Chapter introduces a **temporary resource token** (e.g. `Mermaid Scale`, `Timeshard`)
* These can only be earned and spent **within 3 months**
* At the end of the Chapter, the token **expires** and supply resets to `0`
* This prevents long-term inflation and creates recurring demand

### 💰 Team Revenue & Sustainability

Sunflower Land is **independent (no VC funding)** and sustains itself through FLOWER purchases.

* Team revenue = `50%` of fees from GEM purchases & `5%` from in-game marketplace trades
* This ensures the team is incentivised to **grow adoption and utility** of FLOWER, not speculate on supply
* We have no reliance on VC capital and short term horizons - we can plan for the future independently.

FLOWER is secured by Ethereum and **optimised for gameplay on BASE**, offering fast, low-cost, and seamless experiences for players.

## :arrow\_up: Upgrade

In May 2025, we upgraded the previous token (SFL) to FLOWER. All in-game SFL was automatically converted to FLOWER and players had a 6 month period to exchange out of game SFL at a 1:1 rate.\
